I met Mazola when I was in Highschool... we were all very underage and playing as many bars as we could scam our way into playing. I met Henry Shi at Western Techs Battle of the Bands... his bands set was going terribly and they all sortof gave up... but not Henry. Henry proceeded to throw his guitar up in the air as hard as he could, and let it smash down to the stage floor. He kept doing this until the school staff turned the stage lights off, and his band left. I went up to him after wards and said "that was amazing... it was a total disaster and you did exactly what you needed to" or something like that and told him that we were friends now. He did not believe me. He thought I was making fun. Eventually I convinced him I was telling the truth. And, well whatever, were all good friends now.

Years later I learned that Julia and Amy had their own acoustic act called I-Languages. They quickly became favorites of mine, reminding me of Julie Doiron, and playing sets somewhere around the 35 decibel range. When they moved to Montreal, both I-Languages and Mazola drifted out of my field of vision. When I moved there, I found Amy and Jules alive and well, and scooped them up to play with The Walls are Blonde. Best decision ever.
